Originally conceived as a renovation with an addition, the project was ultimately realized as a new residence due to the condition of the existing foundation. The original garage and entry locations were retained, and the overall footprint was preserved and expanded by 419 square feet. A new second story and partial basement complete the reconfigured home.
The Great Room
Light, Views, and Connection
Kitchen, dining, and living areas flow seamlessly within a generous great room that forms the heart of the home. Open sightlines and expansive glazing frame views into the wooded landscape, reinforcing a sense of openness, continuity, and connection across the main living spaces.
Outside-In
Framing Landscape and Sky
Primary living spaces were shifted from the center of the plan and reoriented along the length of the lot to engage the expansive side yard. Large sliding doors extend interior spaces to patios and the pool, blurring the boundary between indoors and out while enhancing spaciousness and presence of nature.
Gathering Space
Warmth and Focus
Designed as a natural hub for daily life, the great room brings family and friends together in a space that is welcoming, light-filled, and comfortable. High ceilings and clerestory windows introduce daylight from above, while the open kitchen anchors the room and encourages shared activity.
Overlapping Volumes
Layered Spaces Oriented to Views and Light
Three bedrooms occupy the second level, each oriented toward distant bay views. The primary suite opens to a private deck, creating a quiet retreat. A ground-floor guest suite enjoys its own outdoor area, while a partial basement with kitchenette and bath provides a flexible, independent gathering space for teens.

Before Photos
The existing house sat low relative to the street, with a shallow-sloped roof and uniformly low eight-foot ceilings throughout the single-story plan. As a result, the interior spaces felt compressed, with living areas that were dispersed and disconnected. Bedrooms lined the open length of the lot, leaving the primary gathering spaces tucked toward the center of the plan, with limited connection to the site beyond.
